GENDER LINKS

An advocacy instrument to bridge that precarious gap between childhood and adulthood, GLinks as a composite group of HG would espouse adolescent issues like health, lifestyle, sexuality, and career in preparing the growing person to enter the adult world with knowledge and confidence.

Many of our youth find themselves thrust rudely into the adult world; expectations (if any) are mostly misled and unrealistic. They are left out in the cold, alone.

Now then if the future leaders of the any nation can barely stand on their own 2 feet at that high point of their lives, where dreams are no longer fantasies and the harsh realities of life and living confronts them rudely, then an immediate remedy is needed to save the nation, to save the people of the nation.

Target Groups
In its role as a bridge, GLinks aims to target all adolescents, and young persons (10-24). They will be grouped as follows;

Second Cycle Institutes: here we find a large group of our target group more venerable than any other of the catchments of GLinks. They have just moved from childhood into adolescent, and are forming habits, opinions, and associations that may last them a life time. It is therefore very expedient for GLinks to step in at this point to begin helping them build a bridge, and lead them across this bridge to a successful and productive adulthood. A Weekly Adolescent Column is to set up in one of the daily newspapers(10-19.com) to answer and discuss difficulties encountered by adolescent but more importantly to provide a forum for sharing ideas and a voice.

Tertiary Institutions: Most of the adolescents will enter this stage of life very much unprepared, especially since they would have missed out on GLinks SSS programs. At any rate, most of them have entered this stage in considerable poor state of mind, expectations, and general well being on issues of life. It must be emphasised that this is the final stage immediately before adulthood. Many of life’s decisions are made here; career, relationships, marriage, lifestyle, and many more pathways of life. GLinks is to champion such a challenge.

Church and Other Youth Groupings will also not be left out of these programs. Many find themselves confused and lost in the maze of religion, spirituality and the daily affairs of life. The interactions will serve as an opportunity to point them in the right direction of life so as to create a responsible generation that will lead Ghana into the Promised Land.

Another group that GLinks will deal with is the Street People. As bleak as their future seems, their lack of knowledge about health, lifestyle, sexuality and the environment compound their situation, and makes them more of a social risk than social misfits. GLinks will therefore focus on this group to better their lives.

Summer vacation camps will be organised where the spirit and gift of volunteerism, moral and socio-cultural issues will be espoused.
